I got me a new toy!! Been wanting a Kitchenaid for forever! Jeric saw Macy's was having a flash sale and it was totally 60% off! It was only for the stainless steel one.. so no mint one for me. That was a little bit of a bummer, but I got over that real quick.
My beautiful new toy.

I asked Jeric what he'd like the very first dessert to be and he said cinnamon rolls. Cinnamon rolls it is! He also found a recipe that states to be pretty close to Cinnabon's recipe. It called for the following ingredients:
1 cup warm milk
2 eggs
1/3 cup melted butter
4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp (1 packet) of rapid rising yeast
You mix it all up with the regular paddle mixer and then switch to the dough hook. All was well, except we had just enough flour to make 4 cups and by the time the dough was ready, it looked too sticky still. What can you do? I mean, one of us COULD have gone back to the grocery store, but since Jeric had just gotten back from there with the ingredients we knew we didn't have, he totally didn't want to.. and I was too lazy to go out myself. I figured we'd make do somehow.
So I left the dough to rise for 30 minutes... meanwhile, it was time to make the cinnamon mixture. All that consisted of was 1 cup of brown sugar and 2 tbsp of cinnamon (we had just enough of cinnamon too.. lol).

30 minutes later...
It was time to roll the dough out. But wait... we totally don't have a rolling pin! Fear not! The web is here! Totally found an alternative, which suggested we use a bottle of wine. Problem solved? Not really. We still had the issue of having absolutely no flour to help keep the dough from sticking to the counter, the rolling pins, or my hands. I figured maybe we can use these hot dog foils that are lined with wax like paper on the inside. So I laid several sheets across the counter and dropped the ball of dough on top. HA! I totally made a mess of things. LOL. dough stuck to the wine bottle, so that was a no go. I decided to just try and do my best by flatting the dough out with my hands.

After it looked decent enough, I added a bit of butter and sprinkled the cinnamon sugar mix all over. Now the toughest part... how to freaking roll the dough. I surely can tell how not to do it! Haha. It stuck to me and stuck to the foil paper thing and I was pretty tired and not liking how things were ending up, so I just said eff it... got the floss and cut pieces even though it looked like total crap.
Besides, it's not like the taste will be off. In all honesty, it's all for plating and looks anyways. So, into the oven you go, you ugly mashed up looking rolls!
Now time to tackle the cream cheese frosting. Sort of. I actually didn't do this part because Zoe was hungry and very very sleepy. So I left the frosting to Jeric. I did want it colored funky, so he took the liberty in choosing green. By the time Zoe knocked out, the cinnamon rolls were done baking and were frosted and in came Jeric with a piece for me!
I must say, tastes pretty damn good!
